Home > Events > Excursions for guests > Rock of the Germans (Fiftieth section of Cassino)
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cassino Section, the CAI of San Donato Val di Comino is organizing an excursion to the "Germans' Rock," a site of great historical and naturalistic interest.
The loop trail starts from San Donato Val di Comino and runs through the Vallone di Forca d'Acero, an ancient sheep trail that connected the Comino Valley to the Sangro Valley.
The route climbs gradually through beech and black pine forests, offering striking views of the valley below.
The Germans' Rock, located at 1,214 meters above sea level, is a military post carved into the rock during World War II, used to monitor movements in the valley floor.
This site is included in the "Great Path of Remembrance" of the battles of Monte Cassino, offering an opportunity to reflect on the history and surrounding nature.
